Remco Westerink receives prize for animal-free innovation
4 years agoToxicologist Remco Westerink, head of the Neurotoxicology research group at Utrecht University, has been awarded the Willy van Heumen Prize 2019. He received this prize from the Stimulation Fund Alternatives for Laboratory Animals for the development of neurotoxicological tests on the human brain.
Westerink uses human brain cells derived from stem cells and does not use laboratory animals. The prize, an amount of 15,000 euros, will be awarded to Westerink on Thursday 28 November during the conference Transition to Animal-free Innovation in Utrecht.
