IRAS subsidy for animal-free research
2 years agoTogether with the industry, two Dutch research groups are given the opportunity to develop innovations for animal-free research via the ZonMw subsidy call Create2Solve. The projects contribute to limiting the use of experimental animals.
One of the projects awarded with proviso is by Dr. Nynke (N.I.) Kramer (Utrecht University, Institute for Risk Assessment Sciences), in collaboration with the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) and the private partners Vivaltes and Toxys. This project focuses on the development of a robust non-animal test method to determine the toxic dose of sparingly soluble substances. "By making non-animal testing methods more reliable, end users will also gain more confidence in this and apply it as an alternative to animal testing," says Nynke Kramer.
