Help accelerate animal-free science

Do you want to brainstorm about the future of animal experiments and non-animal innovations? Then please join our online ‘helpathon’ on Tuesday May 17 (9:00-17:30 CET) to help Utrecht Science Park in building on the existing TPI Utrecht initiatives with a vision to develop a concrete policy strategy towards animal-free innovation.

A helpathon is a creative workshop in which people from different backgrounds are challenged to find solutions to a problem. Watch this video on what a Helpathon is.

TPI Utrecht stands for the Utrecht Transition Project towards animal-free Innovations (Transitie Proefdiervrije Innovatie). The project has a dedicated working group of ambassadors from three partners: Utrecht University, UMC Utrecht and the HU University of Applied Sciences Utrecht. TPI Utrecht’s aim is to promote and embed animal-free innovations in research and education. Some of their activities are: organising Round Tables, helping researchers through a Helpdesk, organising educational courses on many levels (from bachelor and master to professional), and advising on specific projects.

Animal protection organizations PETA and Animal Rights appreciate the Utrecht efforts so much that they are joining forces with them and have offered to organise this special helpathon for the Utrecht movement. Chair of the Executive Board Anton Pijpers and chair of the TPI Utrecht working group Daniela Salvatori embrace this offer, and ask this question:

“Can you help us develop concrete policy measures to accelerate the transition towards animal-free innovation at Utrecht Science Park?”
