Free E-learning on euthanasia
7 years agoA new, free e-learning resource, called Euthanasia in Laboratory Animals has been made available by NC3Rs.
Doing the tutiorial will help you to think about euthanasia techniques for lab animals. But beware: it's based on United Kingdom laws. There are differences with Dutch law.
Another source for this topic is the Annex IV (Methods for killing animals) of the European directive can be useful, as well as the advice report Alternative methods for killing laboratory animals from the Netherlands National Committee for the protection of animals used for scientific purposes (NCad).
Any decision starts from two efforts: minimizing pain and stress for the animals and performing good science (for example taking effects of the method on organs into account).
